This site is a personal site for Ben Fielding, operating as a virtual CIO. It doesn't run advertising, doesn't sell data, and doesn't ask you to fill in a form. This policy sets out plainly what little data does pass through it, why, and what rights you have over it.
This policy applies to benfielding.uk. The site is operated by Quinset Consulting Ltd, which is the controller of any personal data this site processes.
This site sits alongside Quinset, which has its own site and its own privacy policy, applying when you're on their site rather than this one.
This page is a static profile: there's no contact form, no account, no newsletter sign-up and no tracking pixels or analytics running on it. Because of that, there's very little to collect.
This site does not set any cookies of its own, and doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. The Google Fonts request described above does not set a cookie in your browser either.
The one exception is the booking widget on the Contact page, provided by Reclaim.ai, which may set its own cookies once it loads. That widget only loads after you've accepted cookies via the banner on this site; if you decline, it stays unloaded and you're offered a direct link to book on Reclaim.ai's own site instead. Your accept/decline choice is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie, so it doesn't require consent itself. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer.
Server logs exist purely to keep the site running securely, and I don't cross-reference them against anything else. If you contact me directly, I use what you tell me only to respond to you and, where relevant, to follow up about the work you've asked about.
I don't use any information gathered through this site for marketing, don't sell or rent it to anyone, and don't share it with third parties beyond the hosting and font providers already named above.
Where any processing happens, it's on the basis of legitimate interest, in keeping a functioning, secure website and responding to enquiries, or, in the case of a direct message you choose to send, on the basis that you've initiated contact and reasonably expect a reply.
Server logs are retained by the hosting provider for a limited period for security purposes and then rotated out automatically. Direct messages or emails are kept for as long as is reasonably useful to the enquiry or relationship they relate to, and deleted when they're no longer needed.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
I'll update this page if what the site does changes, for instance if I add a contact form or analytics later on. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
The most reliable way to reach me about anything in this policy, including a rights request, is via LinkedIn or email at hello@benfielding.uk.
Message me on LinkedIn and I'll reply from there.
